1 August 2006

	The Sängerfest will be held on the Labour Day long weekend of October 2008 - Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th.
	The Adelaide Town Hall has been booked as the venue for the Sängerfest. Social functions will be held in the German Club at 223 Flinders Street, and the gala dinner on Saturday night will be held at a venue yet to be decided. Watch this space.

1 June 2006

	A subcommittee has been formed, comprising Peter Reeh (chair), Karl Ascher, Ludwig Merget, Allen Gale, Manfred Grafton and Bill van de Water. This committee has already met on several occasions.
	The most urgent issue is that of the concert venue. Several venues are in the process of being evaluated, including the Festival Theatre, Adelaide Town Hall and various large hotel venues.
	Letters have been sent asking for support and sponsorship.
	Choirs affiliated with the Australian German Singing Association will shortly receive letters asking for "indications of interest", which at this stage is a non-binding interest in attending the Sängerfest in early September, 2008. This is necessary to assist us with choosing a suitable venue, and to commence negotiations with accommodation providers to try and obtain cheaper prices for visiting choirs. We urge all choirs to respond to this letter, when received.

1 December 2007

Despite a lack of reports on this page, the sub-committee has been working behind the scenes. The following events and details have been locked in:

	The Adelaide Town Hall has been booked for the two concerts on Saturday 4th October 2008
	The progam of events has been framed (some minor changes may be made). Details can be found here.
	The weekend will commence with a civic reception by the Lord Mayor of Adelaide on Friday night, 3rd October

Most choirs have replied to our invitations. If yours hasn't, and you still wish to come, DON'T DELAY!! Contact Manfred Grafto n as soon as possible.

We have discovered that a big convention is to be held in Adelaide on the same weekend as the 14th Sängerfest in October 2008. The "International Farmers Youth Convention" will be held from October 4th to 10th, and large numbers of hotel/motel rooms have already been booked. Choirs are urged to attend to their accommodation requirements as soon as possible! For a useful list of accommodation links, click here.

The venue for the gala dinner on Sunday 5th October has been confirmed to be the Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide (next door to Hyatt Hotel and 2 doors away from the Adelaide Railway Station and Casino).
